Maninder Singh is a national-level handball player. He is a student at Government High School Toot, class 8, district Firozpur, Punjab, a school recently added to the Sports Lab program. Under the Sports Lab program, he is being coached at the national level by Handball player Harjinder Kaur. His Coach, Harjinder Kaur, classifies him as one of the most genius players in the school.
Maninder, who hails from the village Toot, is his parents’ elder son and has a younger brother. His father is an agricultural labourer whose annual income is not more than sixty thousand per annum, and his mother is a homemaker.
Maninder found his passion for Handball at school and has been immensely supported by the PE teacher, who recognized his talents. Now, with the addition of the Sports lab program under the guidance of coach Harjinder, his training has become more wholesome and complete. Maninder attends the Sports Lab program’s morning and evening sessions and is one of the program’s scouted talents.
At the evening session, coach Harjinder focuses on his sports-specific skills and ensures daily and rigorous practice.
Maninder is extremely happy and content with the guidance of coach Harjinder and the new sports equipment made available through the Sports lab program. He aspires to become an international player and make his country and state proud. He also views his game as an opportunity to lift his family out of poverty and ensure a better standard of living for them.
