Project Unnati, aligned with the National Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Policy, striving to empower the youth through skill development programs. The initiative serves to bridge the gap between opportunities and a skilled workforce by establishing robust market linkages and providing pre and post-placement counseling.
By offering NSDC-certified training as Sewing Machine Operators (SMOs) to young school and college dropouts, the project facilitates their integration into the workforce. Placements in apparel manufacturing organizations are supplemented with post-placement support, ensuring sustained employment.
The Apparel Made-ups & Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (AMHSSC) was set up in the regions of Assam, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, and Tamil Nadu as part of a National Skill Development Mission to fulfil the growing need for skilled manpower in the apparel sector and narrow the gap between the demand and supply of skills. The project focused on empowering individuals through skill acquisition, transforming lives by providing employable skills to unskilled women and addressing youth career aspirations. Sustainable livelihoods were created, industry skill gaps were bridged, and self-reliance was fostered through entrepreneurial training, ensuring everyone had opportunities to thrive.
